Health + Safety Officer - Cavan

Azon continues to work exclusively with a Main Contractor based in Cavan. You will be reporting to the Director of the company and working on a range of projects including construction of offices and apartments to refurbishment work in schools and hospitals. You will be based on 2-3 projects around the Midlands, Cavan and Dublin. The role will be based our of their office in Cavan. This will be maternity cover with a minimum of 6 months. Opportunity to become full time after this is possible.
Our client who are a quality focused business with smart leadership and a well-defined growth strategy who are seeking to hire a Health + Safety officer to grow with the business.
Azon have placed several people in this business and have received excellent reports back about the camaraderie within the company.
· Implementing the existing ISO 9001 + OHSAS 18000 Safety Management System on sites
· Full responsibility for putting in place appropriate risk assessments and method statements on all sites, and ensuring implementation of these measures
· Completing site audits
· Checking safety equipment
· Preparing health and safety plans for sites
· Notification to the HSA and liaising with the HSA
· Working with the site managers to ensure safe working practices are in place at all times
· Completing safety pre-qualification documents
· Be a qualified safety officer with relevant degree in safety
· 3 - 5 years + experience as a safety officer with a Main Contractor in the Construction industry.
· Have a contractor background
· Have experience in implementing OHSAS 18000 on sites
· Have excellent computer and communication skills
· Ability to train operatives on manual handing and abrasive wheels
Salary: €40,000 - 50,000 depending on level of experience. These figures are guidelines and are open for negotiation.
