Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor with operations in Ireland and overseas.

Due to recent success, they now have a requirement Buyer/Purchaser for a large civils project in Kildare.

Will be responsible for purchasing Materials, Hired Plant, Equipment and Management of Project Vehicles Servicing etc.) To procure materials, plant, equipment, and minor subcontracts to meet the commercial requirements of the construction contract in compliance with the site programme and the JV Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Take lead on procurement activities of materials, plant and equipment.
  • Maintain good working relationship with site personnel, quantity surveyors, and HSQE department.
  • Prepare and issue materials, plant and minor subcontract enquiries if required.
  • Issue plant reports to site team from system data base ensuring tracking of plant is retained.
  • Manage fleet of light vehicles for project staff in terms of servicing, repairs and motor tax renewals.
  • Check quotations are compliant with specification and commercial requirements.
  • Liaise with site commercial team/site managers on vendor selection.
  • Negotiate terms of orders and discounts.
  • Prepare and issue orders in a timely manner.
  • Carry out vendor appraisal as required.
  • Assist accounts department with any order related queries.
  • Maintain an honest relationship with the supply chain.

 Requirements

  • Previous experience of procurement of plant and materials for construction activities.
  • Good organisation skills to manage fleet of light vehicles for project staff in terms of repairs, servicing, motor tax renewal etc.
  • Computer skills sufficient to carry out basic spreadsheet and database operation.
