Civil Engineer
Our client, a state organisation, is undertaking a programme of construction of engineering structures and roads network based in Mullingar and is seeking to recruit a Civil Engineer. The successful candidate will report to the Estates Manager and be responsible for managing the planning and execution of the operations, supporting and implementing the Engineering Strategy and Engineering Procurement Strategy.
The role includes and involve:
Manage Contractors to ensure that they meet operational targets, deliver their best performance and are able to step-up to provide a more rounded service.
Manage the roads grant application process, support the implementation of the Engineering Strategies, through input into the operational group.
Ensure that Operational Plans are in place to efficiently carry out roading operations throughout the year by accurately phasing work packages and assigning Contractors.
Assist the Estates Manager in preparing the Engineering budget to ensure that they are well aligned to the needs of the BAU, and also accurately carry out any production and financial forecasting
Effective use of Forest Management System (FMS) to ensure an accurate roads plan is put in place at Operational and Tactical level.
Deal with stakeholder issues in relation to access, roads and drainage.
Ensure that all Engineering operations comply with Forest Certification Standards, Corporate Governance, Standard Operating Procedures, Codes of Practice and Forest Service Guidelines.
To be considered for the role you must:
Be Degree (level 8) qualified Engineer, or similar discipline.
Have more than 2 years’ experience working in an operations role.
Have excellent communications, negotiation and persuasive skills, dealing with staff, contractors and stakeholders.
Have ability to deliver accurate and timely data and information.
Be experienced in scoping works, preparation of design briefs and budgets.
Ideally you will:
Have experience to promote a safe-working environment and ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory and silvicultural standards.
Have Commercial and Financial acumen.
Have proven ability to make good decisions and delegate responsibility, working on own initiative.
