Health & Safety Manager

Our client, a main contractor requires a Health & Safety Manager for their head office based in Cork. The successful candidate should also expect to travel from site to site depending on projects undertaking.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the Company’s high Health, Safety and Environmental standards, and ensure ongoing development and implementation of improved EHS practices, policies and procedures
• Remain up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable legislation
• Regularly update the company’s Safety Statement in compliance with the current regulatory requirements
• Develop and maintain company EHS standards, policies, systems, procedures and programs applicable to the Company and projects
• Provide EHS leadership and direction for management, professional, technical and support staff across the Company
• Liaise with internal and external auditors with particular focus on continuous improvements to the existing management systems, processes and assuring legal compliance
• Maintain department processes and procedures to comply with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Liaise with Local Authorities to ensure all relevant project applications are managed in a timely manner
• Develop RAMS registers based on construction programmes
• Monitor Subcontractors in relation to compliance with current Company policy
• Assign Project EHS Officers across our sites, being mindful for project requirements
• Ensure that safety inspections, audits and all other EHS functions are carried out throughout all sites

Requirements:

• Relevant third level qualification in Health & Safety and Environmental
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Qualified Manual Handling Trainer
• Site experience and knowledge of the construction sector
• Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork and presentation skills
• Have experience working closely with the HSA to ensure compliance across all projects
• Have experience working with ISO45001 and ISO14001
