Health & Safety Advisor

Who you’ll be working for:
With almost 50 years experience working on heavy civil projects, offices across the UK and Ireland, 6 years of pipelined work across Scotland, the successful Health and safety officer will work with an Irish company, renowned for their quality and standard of work.

This role will be based in Scotland, on a 10/4 rotation, with travel and accommodation provided, along with continual training and development plans for the successful candidate.

What you’ll need to have:
The successful candidate will have a Health & Safety related qualification and IOSH Membership preferred.
Ideally having 5+ years post graduate experience within the Construction Industry. (Civil Engineering Industry Experience a distinct advantage), along with excellent Communication skills both written and verbal.

What you’ll be doing:
The safety officer is responsible for ensuring that all site workers follow safety rules and regulations, adopting, implementing and assisting in the continual improvement of the companies IMS.
The successful candidate will form part of a growing H&S Team with the opportunity to progress their career path within the company.

Site Administration Duties:
  • understanding of the relevant project specifications and drawings
  • Prepare, maintain and update as necessary the Site Construction Safety Plan
  • Maintain all safety related documentation in accordance with relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice and the companies IMS
Quality, Health and Safety & Environment Duties:
  • Work in conjunction with Quality and Environmental staff in preparation of project documentation.
  • Promote and develop initiatives for the improvement of the site safety systems
  • Document and report any incident relating to safety or environment and take appropriate action
People/Sub-Contractor Management Duties
  • Monitor, track, record Subcontractor performance, ensure it meets the companies IMS standards
  • Communicate relevant safety information to subcontractors enabling them to effectively carry out their functions
  • Formally report levels of safety performance to site management, Report non-conformances (together with remedial action taken) to the Quality Manager immediately

An excellent package will be put in place for the successful candidate, with a salary that reflects your experience and abilities to date. Salary will be in the region of £40,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience.
